    80% of retail assets and 74% of HNI assets are invested through MFDs

    Overall, 55% of the total MF assets are invested through MFDs.

    Majority of individual investors - retail investors and HNIs prefer to invest through MFDs.

    AMFI data shows that while 80% of the total retail MF assets are in regular plans, such a percentage is 74% in case of HNI assets.

    The data further reveals that individual investors account for 55% of the total MF assets as on June 2023.

    Majority of equity assets is with distributors. The data reveals that 76% of the total equity assets is in regular plans.

    Further, 40% of the total debt assets other than liquid and money market funds is invested through distributors.

    Liquid funds and ETFs have least contribution through MFD route, shows the report.

    Peshotan Dastoor, Group President & Head - Sales, UTI Mutual Fund feels that many individuals are comfortable working with MFDs as they offer multiple services like tax planning and estate planning under one roof.
