AMFI data shows that Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru have the highest MF AUM among all cities.
Mumbai has the highest AUM among all the cities in India with assets of Rs. 18.92 lakh crore. The capital city, Delhi, is second in the ranking with MF assets of Rs. 8.49 lakh crore. Bengaluru comes third with AUM of Rs. 3.80 lakh crore. The top three cities together contribute about 45% of the MF AUM.
Pune and Kolkata complete the top five with AUM of Rs. 2.70 lakh crore and Rs. 2.41 lakh crore, contributing 4% and 3.5% to the total industry assets, respectively.
Following the top five on the sixth spot is Ahmedabad with an AUM of Rs. 2.16 lakh crore, constituting about 3% of the total industry assets. Chennai is on the seventh spot with AUM of Rs. 2.02 lakh crore while Hyderabad is on the eighth spot with assets of Rs. 1.45 lakh crore. Both these cities contribute about 3% and 2% to the industry’s total assets under management.
Vadodara and Jaipur are the final entries in the top 10 with assets of Rs. 62,000 crore and Rs. 58,000 crore, respectively. They contribute 0.9% and 0.8% to the total industry AUM.
Besides the top 100 cities, NRIs and overseas investors have also contributed Rs. 2.81 lakh crore to the industry, forming 4% of the overall MF assets.
