    Birla, Franklin, Pramerica, DWS file documents for debt funds

    Four fund houses - Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, Pramerica Mutual Fund, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund and DWS (Deutsche) Mutual Fund have filed offer documents with SEBI for launch of new debt schemes.

    Mumbai: Four fund houses – Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, Pramerica Mutual Fund, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund and DWS (Deutsche) Mutual Fund have filed offer documents with SEBI for launch of new debt schemes.

    Birla and DWS are launching closed ended schemes, Pramerica and Franklin open ended schemes. Pramerica is launching two schemes.

    Birla Sun Life FTP – Series CL to CT: It is a closed ended income scheme having duration of 12-36 months. Depending on the tenure, the performance of the scheme will be benchmarked to CRISIL Short Term Bond Fund Index (for schemes with duration of 12 –18 months) or CRISIL Composite Bond Fund Index (for schemes with duration of 18 –36 months). The asset allocation of the scheme is 100 per cent in debt and money market instruments, with a low to medium level of risk profile. The fund manager of the scheme is Kaustubh Gupta.

    Franklin Templeton Fixed Tenure Fund – Series XVI: It is a closed ended income fund with a maturity of 3 years. It seeks to generate returns and reduce interest rate volatility by investing 80-100 per cent of net assets in fixed income securities with low to medium level of risk profile and invest 0-20 per cent in equities and equity linked instruments with medium to high level of risk profile for capital appreciation. The units of the scheme will be listed on stock exchanges to facilitate the buying and selling of units at market prices. The debt portion of the scheme would be managed by Umesh Sharma and Pallab Roy and the equity portion by Anand Radhakrishnan and Roshi Jain.

    Pramerica Treasury Advantage Fund: It is an open ended debt scheme which seeks to provide reasonable market related returns with moderate level of risk and high degree of liquidity. The portfolio will consist of at least 65 per cent in fixed income securities having a residual maturity or put options not exceeding 375 days and the balance in fixed income securities having a residual maturity of more than 375 days. This scheme would be managed by Mahendra Jajoo.

    Pramerica Short Term Income Fund:  It is an open ended income scheme which will invest in debt securities and money market instruments of short-term maturity with a moderate level of risk. It would seek to outperform its benchmark CRISIL Short Term Bond Fund Index. The scheme will be managed by Mahendra Jajoo.

    DWS FTF – Series 79-81: It is a closed ended debt fund with duration of up to 60 months. The investment objective of the scheme is to generate regular income by investing in domestic debt instruments including government securities & money market instruments and securitised debt with a low to medium level of risk profile. The scheme will be managed by Kumaresh Ramkrishnan.
