The
industry body has received over 30,000 SMSes from people wanting to know more
about mutual funds
Mumbai: If the
count of SMSes sent by people to AMFI’s advertising campaign is any indication,
the campaign is a clear hit with over 30,000 SMSes within four weeks of running
these ads on national television channels. The ads went on air from September
19, 2011.
AMFI has
developed a 36 page booklet which explains the basics of mutual funds. Apart
from articulating the benefits of investing in mutual funds the booklet also
guides people on how to invest in a mutual fund scheme.
These booklets
are sent to people who send an SMS <SAVING> to 56070. Once you send an
SMS to this number you get a call from AMFI’s call centre to get the address to
which the booklet is to be sent.
V Ramesh, Deputy CEO of AMFI says that around 25,000 booklets have been already distributed. The ads are expected to be on air for a period of four to five weeks. AMFI will decide whether to re-run the ads in the future depending on funds availability as well as people’s response to these ads.
