    IRDA initiates the process of appointing a new chairman

    J Hari Narayan will retire in February 2013.

    IRDA has invited applications for the post of chairman, as J Hari Narayan, is supposed to retire on 21st February 2013.  The regulator has released an official advertisement on its website seeking applications for filling up the vacancy.

    The tenure of the chairperson will be five years, or till the applicant reaches 65 years of age. The person must have held the post of secretary in the government or its equivalent. The last date for receiving the applications is 7th November.The new chairman will be offered Rs 3.75 Lakh per month without the facility of accommodation and car.

    Before entering the insurance industry, Hari Narayan served as Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2006 from where he superannuated in February, 2008.  He has served for many years in the fields of public enterprises management, infrastructure sector development and in industrial financing. He has been Managing Director of the Leather Industries Corporation, Small Scale Industries Development Corporation and the Industrial Development Corporation of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He has also served in the Electricity Board, the Singareni Collieries and in the Steel Industry.
