IRDAI has found that a general insurance company – Bhartiya Cooperative General Insurance is engaged in selling of general insurance products especially crop insurance to people without obtaining any registration of certification from the insurance regulator.
Further, IRDAI has cautioned policyholders not to fall prey to this company.
It said, “No registration has been granted to Bhartiya Cooperative General Insurance Limited’ by IRDAI for undertaking insurance business or solicitation of insurance business. It has been brought to the notice of IRDAI that the said entity by the name Bhartiya Cooperative General Insurance Limited (having website address of www.bharatinsurance.org) is possibly soliciting insurance policies especially crop insurance. The general public are hereby advised not to undertake any transaction related to insurance business with Bhartiya Cooperative General Insurance Limited.”
Agents working in small cities, towns and remote locations should spread this message among clients who are engaged in agricultural activities.
