Narayana Health has received IRDAI’s go ahead to launch health insurance business.
Narayana Health runs one of country’s largest hospital chains in the brand name of Narayana Hospital. It also runs heart centres across the country.
In a press release, IRDAI said, “Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDAI) in its 124th meeting held on 28 Dec, 2023 has granted Certificate of Registration to a new health insurer namely, Narayana Health Insurance Limited to carry health insurance business in India after a hiatus of 5 years.”
With this, the total number of standalone health insurer has increased to 6. Notably, this is fifth approval from IRDAI in any line of insurance business this calendar year 2023.
