The billionaire will be meeting Mr Harinarayan on Friday but no specific agenda for the meeting has been disclosed
Warren Buffett, the U.S. billionaire investor, who recently forayed in the Indian insurance sector will be meeting the IRDA Chairman Mr J Harinarayan on Friday, according to various media reports. Mr. Harinarayan is reported to have said that there is no particular agenda for the meeting.
Berkshire Hathaway lead by Mr Buffett is the corporation which has entered into the Indian non-life insurance sector as a corporate agent of Bajaj Allianz General. The Indian arm - Berkshire India would directly sell insurance to consumers through the portal ‘www.berkshireinsurance.com’ and by way of telemarketing, it said in a press statement.
Initially, the company plans to focus on motor insurance but it is also looking at other products like health insurance, life and travel insurance.
Mr Buffett, well known for his business acumen and choice of investments, would also meet individuals who have bought insurance policies through his Indian venture on Friday in New Delhi. The billionaire is in India as part of his philanthropic initiatives and is also expected to look at possible investment opportunities in the country.
