At Cafemutual Ideas Fest (CIF) 2021, Cafemutual and Axis Mutual hosted a special segment - ‘The Responsible MFD Heroes’ to felicitate MFDs heroes who effortlessly proved that not all heroes wear a cape.
Amid the stressful times of the pandemic, many MFDs demonstrated extraordinary courage and created a difference in others’ lives. Surpassing emotional and physical barriers, these MFDs strived towards resolving the plight of the underprivileged. From feeding the needy to helping the migrants, they did the best they could.
Raghav Iyengar, CBO, Axis MF, presented the MFDs Heroes Award to four winners on Day 1 of CIF 21.
- Nikhat Ashraf Mohamedy, Mumbai
Nikhat offered home-cooked meals to underprivileged people during the lockdown. She started cooking food for 150 people on her own to distribute it among them. Soon, her neighbours and friends joined her in this initiative and set up a group called Food- Ek Choti Si Asha (A ray of hope) to help underprivileged people.
- Tushar (Manoj) Kulkarni, Nashik
Tushar started doing cremation of covid victims after receiving request from Nashik Police. Post each cremation, he had to go to quarantine centres for three days for the safety of his family.
- Anulekha Verma, Mumbai
It all started when Anulekha came to know about an underprivileged school student who suffered a medical condition that could have caused permanent loss of eyesight. She not only paid Rs. 45,000 for the operation but also fixed an appointment, met the doctor and took care of the student. Anulekha has also paid Rs. 50, 000 towards the education fee of another bright student who would have otherwise discontinued studying due to financial constraint.
- Munnavar Khan, Bhopal
Munnavar who works at the distribution firm Vision Advisory Services distributed ration packets and meals to underprivileged families and migrant workers during the covid-19 pandemic. He pooled money with other like-minded people to fund ration packets for underprivileged families across the city. During the last winter, he distributed blankets when the entire North was under a cold wave.
On Day 2 of CIF 21, Raghav was joined by Dhruv Mehta, Chairman, FIFA, to honour the exemplary service of four other MFDs.
- Ravi Kumar, Jammu
During the lockdown, Ravi along with some of his friends started distributing ration and medicines to migrant families daily. With a local group, Ravi also made arrangements for migrants to return to their native place and helped nearly 500 families.
- Amit Charadava, Junagarh
Amit conducted Facebook (FB) Live sessions for people to spread awareness about coronavirus by inviting doctors. His FB live sessions received over 14k views. Amit helped covid patients with food packets and medicines. He also started affordable Quarantine centres for patients at Rs. 1,000 per day. The cost included six-time meals, doctor fees, nurse fee and medicines. Overall, he served 145 patients.
- Chandan Ghosh, Siliguri
Chandan of Prudent Wealth Siliguri, distributed warm clothes and blankets to homeless people during the pandemic. Every year his company gives clothes to orphanage of Maria Cecilia hostel during Christmas. Chandan is also associated with Sparsh which collects used clothes from people and distributes them among needy. Also, he has been funding education of an orphan girl child since 2016.
- Basavaraju Angadi, Bangalore
Basavaraju distributed 500 meal packets and 100 ration packets among underprivileged during the lockdown. In addition, he distributed masks, sanitisers and hand gloves to covid soldiers. Basavaraju has been associated with many associations to support numerous social and environmental causes.
