Noida MFD Akta Sehgal of Manas Management has raised Rs.2.50 lakh to help 5 families affected due to lockdown.
It all started when Akta came to know about a family depending on daily wages which could not afford to buy books for their children education. Soon she heard another instance of a tailor looking for financial help for his wife’s treatment.
These stories made her realise that many people are going through a financial crunch due to lockdown and loss of job. She then posted stories of these people on her Facebook group of mothers to raise funds for people who have been facing financial constraints due to lockdown.
“When my entire family was covid positive, I realised how tough it would be for people who couldn’t even afford the treatment. Since Delhi is in a bad state, I saw requests for financial help every other day. Given that I already have a strong network of affluent women through a Facebook group, where I conduct sessions on motherhood, I asked for help. Surprisingly, 600 members have come forward to donate,” said Akta.
