Mumbai MFD Gajendra Kothari from Etica Wealth left his prosperous family business in Assam to pursue his dream of becoming an MFD.

At Cafemutual Ideas Fest (CIF) 2024, Mumbai MFD Gajendra Kothari, Etica Wealth gave 5 reasons for why he loves this profession.

    • Learning everyday: Gajendra discussed how his profession keeps him on his toes and teaches him new lessons every day. He shared how his best investment has been in knowledge and this has taught him to never become complacent. He also expressed gratitude for getting a chance to guide his team as a mentor.
    • Building compounding: Gajendra believes that MFD business is a compounding machine. An MFD gets a chance to grow with the client and unlike professions in which a broker can make money despite his clients losing money, MFDs create wealth with their clients. He also expresses his belief that the survival of an MFD in the long term is possible only if his clients make money.
    • Meeting new people & making connections: Gajendra discussed how the MFD profession makes him meet people from a variety of backgrounds from a master mariner sailing in the Atlantic Ocean to the top medical professionals of the country. He also expressed conviction in his work saying that good work always transcends boundaries.
    • Adding  value to clients’ lives: Gajendra also expressed his joy at the fact that as an MFD, he was able to add value to his clients’ lives beyond making money and helping them achieve their major financial goals. He shared a WhatsApp message sent by a client who compared his role in her life to Lord Krishna’s role in guiding Arjun during the Mahabharata.
    • Respect from clients: Gajendra compares the respect earned by an MFD to that earnt by a doctor in the past. He also quotes Nick Murray saying: “Welcome to one of the noblest professions you could have chosen: helping people find lasting financial peace.” He also adds that passion for the profession must transform into purpose: doing good for the clients and being happy while doing it.

Gajendra concluded the session by giving an extra reason for loving MFD business: The legacy left in form of successful clients and relations. He signs off saying that there is no better calling than financial planning.
