    How effective is your newsletter?

Here are a few tips to make your newsletter engaging.
    Kanika Bhargav Apr 30, 2018

Newsletters have emerged as a cost effective way to engage with clients. Through newsletters, IFAs can provide valuable insights on key trends and development affecting client portfolios.

Here are a few ideas to make sure your newsletter is engaging.

    • Add additional information: You can write a full article on your blog or website and send only a summary in your e-newsletter. Clients who are interested can click to ‘read more’. You can keep track of which content is getting more ‘clicks’ in your emails. This will be an added advantage for you as it will give information on what your users are most interested in.
    • Insert call to action: Add a sense of urgency to your newsletter by adding a call to action. It can be a text, a graphic or both. It should be placed at the top or bottom of your message to convince subscribers to take necessary steps and engage with your business. Few examples are: sign up now, download your free report or show entire message.
    • Catchy subject line: For most people, the subject line is the first thing that clients see when they receive your newsletter. A lot depends on the subject line; it is the best way to grab attention and determines whether or not the person will open the email. Always keep your subject lines catchy and straightforward.
    • Concentrate on topics for different age groups: Don’t create a newsletter with topics that are appealing to just one age group. Expand your newsletter’s scope by covering a wide range of topics that will attract different age groups. Your newsletter should appeal to multi-generational clients. This will show that you are well updated with the  latest information concerning different age groups and enhace your credibility.
    • Tell your brand story: Include your brand’s logo and company information on the newsletter so that your clients know that it is coming from you. Also. include your signature line or template that can very well work for your brand. Brand consistency allows you to solidify your newsletter and gain your clients’ trust.
    • Set a schedule: How often do you want your newsletter to be sent? No matter how many newsletters you sent in a week or month, be consistent on what you do. Once the schedule is set, the delivery should remain consistent. Failing to deliver on time can result in subscribers opting out and losing interest in your brand.
    • Visually enhance your newsletter: Insert relevant pictures, change the font and style and ensure that your newsletter is error free. Don’t include flashy images and graphics but images that inspire and related to the topic under discussion. Make your newsletter visually appealing, but use the uniform font style and size to across communication.
