Veteran fund manager Gopal Agrawal has quit DSP MF. Gopal joined DSP MF in July 2018 as Head of Macro Strategy & Senior Fund Manager in equity investment team.
Prior to joining DSP, Gopal was the Chief Investment Officer at Tata Mutual Fund and before that he had spent nearly a decade at Mirae Asset MF where he was the overall CIO and strategist. Gopal has also worked with SBI MF where he used to manage some of their marquee funds.
At DSP MF, Gopal was managing DSP Top 100 Equity Fund, DSP Focus Fund and the equity components of DSP Regular Savings Fund and DSP Equity Savings Fund. Vinit Sambre, Head-Equities, DSP Investment Managers will now take over all these funds from June 1.
In a communication to advisors and investors, Kalpen Parekh, President, DSP Investment Managers said, “In a couple of our funds - DSP Top 100 Equity Fund and DSP Focus Fund, we hadn’t been doing well. To this end, Gopal Agrawal joined us about 18 months ago and his experience and expertise helped bridge the performance gap to an extent and certainly put us on the right course. We recognize there is still some way to go and remain committed to rebuilding our track record in these funds. Sadly, Gopal has decided to leave the firm. We respect his decision and wish him success.”
Gopal declined to comment on his next move.
