Here’s how to renew ARN online

A step-by-step guide to renew ARN online.
    Team Cafemutual Jun 4, 2020

With NISM introducing online CPE or eCPE for distributors, ARN renewal has now become completely online.

In order to renew ARN/EUIN, mutual fund distributors and their employees have to undergo mandatory training called continuing professional education (CPE) through six hours classroom training or three and a half hours digital training while sitting in the convenience of home or office.

CPE aims to keep you abreast of the latest development and happenings in the mutual fund industry. The fees for the regular CPE or eCPE is Rs.2500 which is to be paid through NISM portal. Ideally, you should attend the CPE at least a month or two prior to the expiry of the ARN. NISM allows distributors to appear for CPE twelve months prior to the expiry of the ARN.

Once you appear for this refresher course, NISM will share a certificate stating that you have successfully completed the mandatory training with AMFI.

The process of ARN renewal is completely paperless and based on Aadhaar. Ensure that your Aadhaar is linked with your mobile number to avail this online facility.

Here are the steps for online renewal:

    • Login to AMFI website and click on the distributor corner
    • Enter your user-id and password i.e. your ARN or EUIN and password (you can create one by using ‘forget password’)
    • On successful validation of your login credentials, CAMS will fetch information from NISM on NISM certification / CPE completion
    • Once it is found that you have cleared the exam/CPE you will be able to make the online payment
    • Amount due to be paid will be automatically updated. You can pay renewal fee of Rs.1770 (for individual category) online through net banking facility
    • On successful completion of payment, your request will be processed immediately and ARN/EUIN renewed within a few minutes.

As a CPE TRAINER I think the distributors will not have value add in their profession with a online training and renewal. The ARN renewal was an event once in three years for Distributors / RM/ advisors etc,. as they use to sit for the whole day and we use to discuss lots of latest industry inputs and NISM ppt which was elaborate on subject. There used to be lot of networking with friends of industry and sharing of ideas and business modules.
    This used to give lots of value add to the participants and refreshing knowledge and charged for doing business for next three years. With virtual online training they may renew their licences but there is no fun;
As a trainer used to have good interaction with people of industry and facilitating training was a rejuvenating experience which was cherished. Trainer's also have a revenue loss.....However this is the way it is going to be .....But personally feel that class room training is the best hopefully in future it again gets back soon.

Very true, Srikanth Sir. Attending a CPE program in a physical environment was so enriching. An opportunity to network with industry colleagues, interact with the facilitator and most importantly learn about latest developments.

An online eCPE program, though convenient, doesn't match the CPE session in terms of energy levels and participation of fellow participants is missing

Why should we pay them anything at all when they are using and throwing us? Why should there be a lobby allowed to function at all? If they are allowed why should we pay them to sell their priduct at all? Why should CCI allow them to form a cartel and earn endless margins? Why should they have a right to certify us? Even in this tough times they are not letting go of their fees.

    Shame on them.

For renewing your ARN, you need to undergo CPE/eCPE training. To enrol for the same you will have to log in to NISM certifications site "https://certifications.nism.ac.in/nismaol/"
This training will cost you Rs.2,500 and you can schedule the date of the training as per availability and your convenience. Once, CPE/eCPE training is done, you will receive a training completion certificate within 2 to 3 days. Then, you can log into AMFI for the renewal process which I think is not enabled currently or working properly, as I couldn't do it. AMFI website when logged in keeps on throwing up the message saying that your certificate has been processed.
So, if you too face the issue on AMFI website, you too will have to carry the print out of the certificate along with two stamp size photographs and address proof to your nearest CAMS centre. Also, you will have to get a DD in favour of "Association of Mutual Funds in India" amounting to Rs.1,770 and fill an ARN renewal form provided by them. Submit and you will get the new card within 15 to 21 days.

Fees charged for renewal is too high, it should not cost so much. MF associations wants to make money and paying very less to advisor.

I have applied for eCPE. But it hadn't asked for any fees. Also I didn't get any clarification of training . How can I confirm whether I will be able to get training on that day I submitted?

My ARN validity expired in Nov 2019, and i was unable to take the exams. Is there any way now that i can do the eCPE and then renew my ARN?
    Gaurav · 3 years ago `
I have completed eCPE and I am also facing issue for renewal. It refers older certificate and does not let it renew.
Did any one received response to this complaint? I have sent an email to NISM + AMFI. Request you to also follow so that they help resolve it.

I can't physically go since I am outside India and stuck currently due to COVID. In case if I send anyone thumbprints or biometrics will be an issue. I hope this IT issue does not forfeit brokerage we receive.

I completed ECPE on 20th july. Certificate was issued on 27th by NISM. My ARN is valid till 5th Luly 2021.Since I could not validate my renewal of ARN with Amfi, I sent email to CAMS. CAMS have informed me that one needs to do validation/registration renewal with AMFI 5 months prior to expiry date. Hence I can do my renewal only in February 2021.

I have completed ECPE. Certificate was issued on 22.07.2020 by NISM. I validate my ARN with AMFI and made payment 1770 through net banking. After making payment it show bill desk will confirm the payment and no acknowledge ment received. Till date I am not sure if my ARN renewed or not. I have mailed all this to contact@amfiindia.com. My ARN is expiring next month September 2020. If anyone please suggest where I have to complaint for this?

My ARN is expiring on 19th October 2020. I am senior citizen (age 62 years) and also have Mutual Fund selling experience more than 10 years. While applying for eCPE which category I should select - Normal, Grandfather by Age or Grandfather by Experience ? The other question is whether we have to pay double payment - once for appearing for this training online i.e. Rs.2500/- and also to AMFI some other payment for getting the ARN Card ?
Can somebody clarify the above two points ?

    Thanks,
    Sadanand Apte
    Sachin · 3 years ago
    Hello Sadanand Sir,
I know the answer to the second question of yours - Both the fees are required to be paid.
    2500+1770.
