‘You can attend your eCPE by using your smartphone’

Here are some frequently asked questions on the newly launched eCPE.
    Team Cafemutual Jun 5, 2020

How eCPE is different from the conventional CPE?

eCPE is just NISM’s Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program delivered in online mode. In a conventional CPE, participants are required to physically visit the CPE venue and attend a full-day training program. Now, candidates can access the training program from their home/office at their convenience.

eCPE consists of a mix of video lessons and quizzes.

Both eCPE and regular CPE come with their own limitations. While eCPE does not offer interactive session i.e. you can engage with trainer or ask questions like regular CPEs, it offers you a convenient way to renew your ARN completely online.

The fees for both the modes is Rs.2500.

How often are these video lessons updated?

The video lessons under eCPE have been developed in the context of the current market scenario and SEBI regulations. However, NISM will update these video lessons with change in regulations and market dynamics. Also, NISM will consider updating video lessons based on your feedback.

What is the duration for eCPE? Can I complete my eCPEs by taking breaks?

eCPE for mutual fund distributors lasts for three and a half hours. The session covers various lessons. You can take breaks between lessons, however, you should avoid taking breaks while the lessons are in progress.

NISM allows candidates to complete eCPE within 48 hours i.e. 2 days from the selected date and timeslot. No further extension is allowed and fees paid will be forfeited.

    Is laptop/desktop necessary for eCPE?

You can access the eCPE from your smartphone. However, ensure that your internet has a minimum speed 2 mbps. You can check your internet speed through a host of apps available in app store and iOS free of cost.

However, NISM recommends that you should access the course from your laptop and desktop for best experience. The following set up is recommended:

    • A laptop or desktop with at least 2GB RAM
    • Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2MBPS
    • Latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
    • Use of headphone/earphones is recommended

    How to enroll for eCPE?

Login is to your NISM account and select ‘Enrolment’
Choose a dropdown which says ‘Enroll for CPE/eCPE’
Select module (Mutual funds) and category such as normal renewal/ grandfathered by age or grandfathered by experience. In most cases, you will have to select normal renewal
You can select a desired date and time slot and make payment online through NISM portal
You will receive login credentials for eCPE via email and SMS a day prior to the training date
Your login credentials will be valid till the time of completion of training

Remember that you will have to enroll at least 15 days prior to get the desired date and timeslot.

What checks and balances does NISM employ to ensure that someone else is not taking up the eCPE on behalf of distributors?

Ideally, this would be violation of NISM’s policy on unfair means, cheating, forgery and impersonation. NIMS can act upon such candidates if they found them guilty.

In addition, NISM uses artificial intelligence to check if distributors violates NISM code of conduct.

Is it mandatory to pass the eCPE course evaluation quiz at the end of eCPE?

No. However, you are expected to complete the evaluation with necessary seriousness to enable NISM to process your eCPE Certificate.

How can I make suggestions or share feedback about the eCPE?

You can send your suggestions and queries to certification@nism.ac.in or cpe@nism.ac.in

When will I receive the NISM certificate?

After completion of the eCPE course and course evaluation, NISM will process your certificate within 5 working days subject to verification of documents and eligibility.

I have not received the login credentials for eCPE. Whom can I contact?

You can contact NISM at +91-8080806476 or write to cpe@nism.ac.in.

For technical difficulties, you can call +91-22-6673-5120 between 09:30 hrs to 17:30 hrs. The support is not available during weekends and public holidays.

How can I download the eCPE presentation?

You can download the eCPE presentation in pdf format within the course. You will find the presentation in the “Disclaimer” chapter.

My internet speed is slow. Can I access eCPE?

You cannot access the lessons as there are high resolution videos which require high internet speed to stream.

The videos are getting stuck while playing. I am unable to proceed further. Please assist.

The videos may pause due to several reasons such as slow internet connections, unwanted interference from browser plugins, incompatible graphics processor. It is better to access the course using Mozilla Firefox in a New Private Window.

If you have a high-speed internet but are still facing the video stuttering issue, please turn off “Hardware Acceleration” feature on your browser.

To turn off hardware acceleration in Firefox:

    • Click the menu button Fx57Menu and select the general panel
    • Under performance, uncheck use recommended performance settings
    • Additional settings will be displayed. Fx55Performance-disableHWA
    • Uncheck use hardware acceleration when available
    • Click the Firefox menu Fx57Menu and select Exit
    • Start Firefox the way you normally do

We have the otion we all know. But the question was why it is same when your cost towards conducting eCPE course drastically drills down

Very true Mr.Sunil Kumar. Why should the cost of Renewal of ARN through this outsourced agency be the same for both Offline and Online? When a e-paper subscription costs Rs.3.33 per day for a business newspaper, it costs Rs. 300/- approx. Got to find out who is making money in these issues. Hope some sense will prevail. Will the executives of SEBI (Sleeping Executives of Bureaucratic India) get up and open their eyes and see that the poor MFD are not being milked to the core?
