A step-by-step guide to renew ARN online

ARN expired during lockdown has to be renewed before September 30.
    Nishant Patnaik Sep 7, 2020

With less than a month  left to renew your ARN expired during lockdown, we bring to you a step-by-step guide to renew ARN fully online.

ARNs/EUINs which are due for renewal or expiring between March 15 and September 29 can be renewed till September 30. Also, these ARNs/EUINs will continue to remain valid till September 30, 2020. That means, if your ARN/EUIN expires on August 15, it will remain valid till September 30, 2020. AMFI may consider September 30, 2020 as your ARN expiry date.

Remember that the new AMFI norms will be applicable from August 1, 2020 (But in practical terms, they will be effective from October 1, 2020 for ARN renewal).  Among the key changes to the ARN renewals norms will be shifting assets of your clients to other distributors or direct plans if you do not renew ARN within 3 months of expiry of  ARN and cancelling of your ARN if you do not renew it within 6 months.

    Online ARN renewal

With NISM introducing online CPE or eCPE for distributors, ARN renewal has now become fullly online.

In order to renew ARN/EUIN, mutual fund distributors and their employees have to undergo mandatory training called continuing professional education (CPE) through six hours classroom training or three and a half hours digital training while sitting in the convenience of home or office.

The fees for the regular CPE or eCPE is Rs.2500 which is to be paid through NISM portal. Ideally, you should attend the CPE at least a month or two prior to the expiry of the ARN. NISM allows distributors to appear for CPE twelve months prior to the expiry of the ARN.

    eCPE

eCPE is just NISM’s Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program delivered in online mode. In a conventional CPE, participants are required to physically visit the CPE venue and attend a full-day training program. Now, candidates can access the training program from their home/office at their convenience.

eCPE consists of a mix of video lessons and quizzes.

You can access the eCPE from your smartphone. However, ensure that your internet has a minimum speed of 2 mbps. You can check your internet speed through a host of apps available in app store and iOS free of cost.

However, NISM recommends that you should access the course from your laptop and desktop for best experience. The following set up is recommended:

    • A laptop or desktop with at least 2GB RAM
    • Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2MBPS
    • Latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
    • Use of headphone/earphones is recommended

You can enroll for eCPE by clicking here.

Here is the step-by-step guide to enroll for eCPE:

    • Login  to your NISM account and select ‘Enrolment’
    • Choose a dropdown which says ‘Enroll for CPE/eCPE’
    • Select module (Mutual funds) and category such as normal renewal/ grandfathered by age or grandfathered by experience. In most cases, you will have to select normal renewal
    • You can select a desired date and time slot and make payment online through NISM portal
    • You will receive login credentials for eCPE via email and SMS a day prior to the training date
    • Your login credentials will be valid till the time of completion of training

Remember that you will have to enroll at least 15 days prior to get desired the date and timeslot. You can call NISM helpdesk at 8080806476 or write to NISM at certification@nism.ac.in for more details and enquiry.

    Renewal

Once you appear for this refresher course, NISM will share a certificate stating that you have successfully completed the mandatory training with AMFI.

The process of ARN renewal is  paperless and based on Aadhaar. Ensure that your Aadhaar is linked with your mobile number to avail this online facility.

Here are the steps for online renewal:

    • Login to AMFI website and click on the distributor corner
    • Enter your user-id and password i.e. your ARN or EUIN and password (you can create one by using ‘forget password’)
    • On successful validation of your login credentials, CAMS will fetch information from NISM on NISM certification / CPE completion
    • Once it is found that you have cleared the exam/CPE you will be able to make the online payment
    • Amount due to be paid will be automatically updated. You can pay renewal fee of Rs.1770 (for individual category) online through net banking facility
    • On successful completion of payment, your request will be processed immediately and ARN/EUIN renewed within a few minutes.

    To The Cafemutual team,
Have completed E-CPE last month and have been trying to renew ARN online but it keeps saying registered bank account not available for payment. This is true for all banks available on the list and not just my registered bank. Please help me out with what to do next, have emailed both cams and amfi.

Pay through debit/credit card Option which is at extreme down when you scroll.
If you select your bank from bank list, you are allowed to pay only through internet banking.
If you don't use internet banking, don't select your bank.Instead pay through visa/master debit/credit card.It works fine.

AMFI site does not capture CPE/eCPE completion record till more than 10 days. It keeps distributors in frustration for 2 weeks without giving any reasons. It took me a month after CPE to renew online in 2017. Horrible experience. Hope they improve.

FAILING TO GET A RESPONSE FRM AMFI. SO PLEASE PLEASE GUIDE

I run a proprietorship ARN in the name of TI

I wish to : Map my EUIN to another ARN GECA . At the same time to have continuity TI set up with lot of effort.

    1. Is it NOT possible to have a EUIN holder as an employee in TI , so that I can continue to source business with “ employee’s ” EUIN under TI .. while, I get my own EUIN mapped to GECA ?

Please guide if this is possible and the requisite form, documents & fee details.

    2. If above not possible please share an alternate solution.

Basically I neither want to give up my Co., yet want to have my EUIN mapped to another ARN.

I have completed eCPE. After I login on the Renewal page of AMFI, it also accepts that NISM certificate is completed. But I do not see any option to pay fees online. Where is the link to pay fees?

My ARN has expired on 11th January 2020... I had plans to appear for NISM exam by the end of March 2020, which is within three months time permitted by AMFI... But unfortunately, Covid had spoiled my plan... If I attend the eCPE and renew ARN now, will the authorities renew my ARN without break...? I request Cafemutual authorities to take up the matter with the authorities...

You better visit nearest CAMS office and take form from them ,fill it and along with DD and required documents submit it there itself.I had also done it manually in CAMS and that too in lock down.I got renewal confirmation mail within 2 days of submission.

    Hi,

Is anyone able to complete online renewal of ARN through website provided by AMFI (via CAMS)?

In my case during payment I always get the error: "Account number is not available for net banking. Please try with other payment options."

I tried multiple banks for payment options but nothing works and I always get the above error.

    Any guidance will be helpful.
