With less than a month left to renew your ARN expired during lockdown, we bring to you a step-by-step guide to renew ARN fully online.
ARNs/EUINs which are due for renewal or expiring between March 15 and September 29 can be renewed till September 30. Also, these ARNs/EUINs will continue to remain valid till September 30, 2020. That means, if your ARN/EUIN expires on August 15, it will remain valid till September 30, 2020. AMFI may consider September 30, 2020 as your ARN expiry date.
Remember that the new AMFI norms will be applicable from August 1, 2020 (But in practical terms, they will be effective from October 1, 2020 for ARN renewal). Among the key changes to the ARN renewals norms will be shifting assets of your clients to other distributors or direct plans if you do not renew ARN within 3 months of expiry of ARN and cancelling of your ARN if you do not renew it within 6 months.
Online ARN renewal
With NISM introducing online CPE or eCPE for distributors, ARN renewal has now become fullly online.
In order to renew ARN/EUIN, mutual fund distributors and their employees have to undergo mandatory training called continuing professional education (CPE) through six hours classroom training or three and a half hours digital training while sitting in the convenience of home or office.
The fees for the regular CPE or eCPE is Rs.2500 which is to be paid through NISM portal. Ideally, you should attend the CPE at least a month or two prior to the expiry of the ARN. NISM allows distributors to appear for CPE twelve months prior to the expiry of the ARN.
eCPE
eCPE is just NISM’s Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program delivered in online mode. In a conventional CPE, participants are required to physically visit the CPE venue and attend a full-day training program. Now, candidates can access the training program from their home/office at their convenience.
eCPE consists of a mix of video lessons and quizzes.
You can access the eCPE from your smartphone. However, ensure that your internet has a minimum speed of 2 mbps. You can check your internet speed through a host of apps available in app store and iOS free of cost.
