According to a recent report released by Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, the share of beyond top 10 AMCs has grown steadily over the period between December 2019 and March 2025.
During this period, the share of top 10 AMCs has reduced to 76.9% in March 2025 compared to 83.6% in December 2019. On the other hand, the share of beyond top 10 AMCs has grown to 23.1% in March 2025 compared to 16.4% in December 2019.
The report further highlights that the share of top 5 AMCs has reduced from 57.9% to 55.9% over the same period. And the share of top 6 to 10 AMCs has reduced from 25.7% in December 2019 to 21% by the end of March 2025.
The report also highlights that the mutual fund industry is penetrating beyond top 15 cities. The share of B15 has witnessed a significant increase from 26% in December 2019 to 35% in December 2024.
Although Mumbai and New Delhi still dominate the mutual fund industry, the share of these two cities has reduced significantly over the last 5 years.
Since December 2019, the share of Mumbai and New Delhi in the mutual fund industry has reduced to 40% from 48% in the pre-Covid period. On the other hand, the share of the rest 13 cities in the top 15 list has remained more of less stagnant and witnessed a marginal decline of 1%. The share of these cities has reduced to 26% from 27% over the corresponding period.
The share of the next 15 cities has increased to 35% compared to 26% in December 2019. And the share of top 15 cities has reduced to 66% in March 2025 from 75% in December 2019.
