The MF industry is celebrating investor awareness week between November 23 and November 29 in line with the World Investor Week organised by International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
Under this initiative, AMFI and fund houses are holding close to 240 webinars to spread awareness about mutual funds. Also, AMFI has launched a ‘Mutual Funds Sahi Hai’ campaign on radio.
While many retail investors have entered market and mutual funds in recent time, there is a need for new investors to make informed decisions, said Ajay Tyagi, SEBI Chairman in a message announcing SEBI’s participation in the World Investor Week.
He said that the participation of retail investors is encouraging in terms of growth in the number of demat accounts and also mutual fund portfolios. “There is a need for new investors to make informed investment decisions, Thus, investor awareness and education play an important role in educating the investor. One should not get lured by false promises and by unsolicited advice.” said the SEBI Chief.
