    SBI, ICICI Prudential and HDFC are top 3 players in direct space

    Among the top 25 fund houses, PPFAS, SBI and Motilal Oswal have the highest dependence on the direct channel.

    SBI, ICICI Prudential and HDFC receive the highest inflows through the direct route. An analysis of AUM data of top 25 fund houses shows that SBI MF has the highest direct AUM at Rs. 3.70 lakh crore, followed by ICICI Prudential (Rs. 2 lakh crore) and HDFC (Rs. 1.99 lakh crore).

    In we consider only the equity AUM, then ICICI Prudential occupies the top spot with direct equity AUM of Rs. 50,832 crore. Axis comes next, followed by HDFC and SBI.

    Please note that we have included pure equity funds and ELSS to calculate direct equity AUM.

    Among the top 25 AMCs, PPFAS, SBI and Motilal Oswal have the highest dependence on the direct  channel. The direct AUM of PPFAS is 63% of its overall assets as of December 2021. In the case of SBI and Motilal Oswal, the ratio is 59% and 57%, respectively.

    On the other hand, direct investment channels have the lowest share in the AUM of Canara Robeco at 18%. Franklin Templeton, Edelweiss and BNP Paribas are other fund houses with low dependence on direct channels.
