SEBI has constituted a committee – Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee (AIPAC) to suggest ways to develop alternative investments and start up ecosystem.
The 20-member AIPAC will be headed by founder of Infosys and angel investor NR Narayana Murthy. Among some of the key responsibilities of the committee are:
- Advising SEBI on issues related to development of alternative investments
- Identifying regulatory hurdle that might hinder the growth of AIF
- Pointing out issues that need to be taken up with other regulators for development of the AIF industry
