An analysis of industry data shows that B30 investors rely heavily on individual MFDs to invest their money in mutual funds.
An MFDEx data which captures 98% of the industry AUM reveals that individual MFDs account for 37% of the total B30 AUM. Of the total B30 AUM of Rs.8.40 lakh crore, individual MFDs command Rs.3.09 lakh crore as on Sept 2023.
If we include NDs as many national distributors have sub broking model, the share of individual MFDs in the B30 AUM increases to over 50% of the total assets.
Currently, NDs account for 14% of the total B30 AUM or Rs.1.21 lakh crore.
Overall, close to 75% of the total B30 assets has come from regular plans. Banks account for 21% of the B30 assets. While PSU banks command a major share of 13% or Rs.1.11 lakh crore, private banks manage close to Rs.60,000 crore or 7% of the total B30 assets.
Direct plans account for 25% of the total B30 assets with 6% coming from RIAs.
