YouTube India Director Ishan John Chatterjee has said that YouTube will put a check on any unauthorized financial advice given on its platform.

Answering a query raised at the recent Moneycontrol Creator Economy Summit 2023, Chatterjee said that his company will use a combination of parameters to tackle this issue.

The company’s India head said that YouTube removes content that violates community guidelines alongside constantly trying to raise authoritative voices to connect people to better information. If the company finds that a finfluencer is spreading misinformation, the company will restrict his/her account.

Further, the company will not monetize those creators who are not unregistered or not following the regulatory guidelines, he added.

Chatterjee further said, “We infer that finfluencers making casual recommendations not backed with research and data should be wary of being penalized in the form of cancellation of monetary benefits that they could have otherwise received from YouTube.”
