    Stock reshuffle: 10 new entrants in both large cap and mid cap space

    The size of largest small cap company has grown up by 175% to market capitalization of Rs.22,000 crore in six years.

    AMFI has released the its half-yearly list of large cap, mid cap and small cap stocks in which it has added 10 new names to the large cap universe.

    While  8 mid cap companies - Power Finance Corporation, Indian Railway Finance Corporation, Macrotech Developer, Polycab India, REC, Shriram Finance, Union Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank have graduated to large cap space, the two newly listed companies - Jio Financial Services and Adani Energy Solutions are the new entrants in this segment.

    As a result, six companies - Adani Wilmar, Bosch, Hero MotoCorp, Tube Investments of India, PI Industries and Samvardhana Motherson International have moved to the mid cap space.

    Similarly, the midcap segment welcomed 10 small-cap stocks - Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Ajanta Pharma, Nippon Life India Asset Management, Exide Industries, Creditaccess Grameen, Kalyan Jewellers India, Lloyds Metals and Energy, Suzlon Energy, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency is the new entrant in the mid-cap segment.

    Interestingly, the largest small cap company has a market capitalization of Rs.21,975 crore in December 2023. Six years back, the largest small cap company was at Rs.8600 crore in December 2017.

    As per AMFI, the large cap space comprises top 100 companies in full market capitalization. Similarly, companies ranging from 101 to 250 are mid-cap segments and from 251 onwards are small-cap companies.

    The latest AMFI report of December 2023, publishes 5,012 stocks as against 5,063 stocks in the June 2023 list.
