The All-Mutual Fund Distributors Welfare Association (AMDwA) organised a meeting with AMC officials called Samvaad 2.0 in which the association members requested AMCs to approach SEBI to revisit the circular on MFD nomenclature.
Ajay Sharma, President, AMDwA said that the key objective of the meeting is to seek permission to use the term ‘mutual fund advisor’ instead of ‘distributor’. The word mutual fund advisor reflects the role of distributors better, he said.
Sharma said, “There was a resolution, with many MF officials agreeing to help us bring this request up to AMFI and SEBI.”
Apart from members of the association, 55 MF officials across 28 fund houses attended this meet. The meet focussed on fostering dialogue between mutual fund distributors (MFDs) and asset management companies (AMCs).
The meet also featured a few panel discussions on key changes like regulatory impacts and challenges posed by FinTech and social media influencers. The meeting also discussed allowing MFDs to do investor awareness programs with AMCs.
The association also announced its upcoming knowledge event in February themed ‘Udghosh (Proclamation)
