    Sanjay Malhotra to replace Shaktikanta Das as RBI governor

    Sanjay is currently serving as the Secretary of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance.

    In a recent development, the Appointments Committee of the Government of India has appointed Sanjay Malhotra as the new RBI governor. 

    Sanjay will begin his three-year term as the governor of the central bank from December 11 2024. He will replace the existing governor Shaktikanta Das whose tenure is about to expire on Tuesday, i.e. 10th December, 2024.

    Sanjay has worked for the government for over 33 years where he was a Secretary in Department of Financial Services and has extensive experience in finance and taxation where he has played an important part in formulation of tax policy in regards to direct and indirect tax. 

    Sanjay is currently working as the Secretary of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance.
