In less than a year of formation, United Forum, an umbrella banner of various IFA/distributor associations has been dissolved, confirmed two senior members of the forum. However, the forum is yet to make an official announcement of its discontinuation.
A senior member of the forum requesting anonymity told Cafemutual that the forum lacks unity. “All IFA associations want to strengthen themselves instead of empowering an umbrella of associations.”
In addition, he feels that the primary objective of representing the distributor community cannot be met in the absence of a self-regulatory organization (SRO). “We have tried reaching out to the market regulator and AMFI on various issues but it was a futile exercise. We cannot do much in the absence of SRO body for distributors.”
United Forum was constituted to represent the distributor fraternity before SEBI, AMFI and Finance Ministry in June 2016.
