    Sunil Singhania to become Global Head – Equities at Reliance Capital

    Manish Gunwani to join Reliance Mutual Fund as its Chief Investment Officer.

    Reliance Capital has appointed Sunil Singhania, CIO, Reliance Mutual Fund as the Global Head – Equities at Reliance Capital.  He will move into the new role from September 1, 2017, said a press release issued by the company.

    Reliance Capital manages assets of over Rs.4 lakh crore spread across various businesses including life insurance, mutual fund, offshore funds, pension funds, portfolio management services, alternative investment funds (AIF) and wealth management. Sunil will play a leadership role in expanding these businesses, besides providing broad strategic inputs to portfolio managers.

    In a press release, Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, Vice-Chairman, Reliance Capital said, "Sunil has been a valued founding member of the core team that has driven the phenomenal growth of our mutual fund business over the last 14 years. Given Sunil's deep understanding of Indian equity markets and his wide global relationships, we look forward to his enhanced contribution across the full spectrum of our investment related businesses to realise these exciting opportunities."

    “It has been a privilege for me to be a part of the core Reliance Mutual Fund leadership team, and personally very fulfilling to create wealth for millions of our investors across India. I am now looking forward to my expanded role in growing Reliance Capital's equity businesses across diverse platforms," said Singhania.

    Sunil has been working with Reliance Mutual Fund Since 2003. Prior to this, He has worked with Advani Share Brokers and Motisons Securities. Singhania holds CA and CFA under his belt. He has completed B.Com from Narsee Monjee College, University of Mumbai in 1988.

    Sunil has managed Reliance MF’s flagship schemes like Reliance Growth Fund and Reliance Small Cap Fund. A rough calculation shows that he has been managing assets of close to Rs.15,000 across various open ended equity schemes.

    In another related development at Reliance Mutual Fund, Manish Gunwani will replace Sunil Singhania as the Chief Investment Officer of the fund house, said Himanshu Vyapak, Deputy CIO, Reliance Mutual Fund.

    Manish Gunwani was the deputy CIO of ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund. He had managed ICICI Prudential’s flagship schemes such as ICICI Prudential Balanced Advantage Fund and ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund. A rough estimation shows that Manish Gunwani managed assets close to Rs.35,000 core across all the schemes. He has earlier worked with Lehman Brothers, Brics Securities, SSK and Prime Securities.
