The Gurugram Court issued order against a policyholder and his agent’s spouse for forging motor insurance policy documents by incorporating changes to the date of issuance to get claim amount.
In a case between Shriram General Insurance and a policyholder along with his agent’s spouse, the honourable court pressed charges against the policyholder and agent’s spouse under sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (related to fraud and impersonation).
Earlier, the accused policyholder met with an accident on October 5, 2016. Since the vehicle was uninsured on the date of the incident, the policyholder requested his agent’s spouse to issue policy valid from October 2, 2016.
Subsequently, the agent’s husband forged some document to issue such a policy. The general insurer sensed something fishy and approached the district court highlighting the fabrication in the policy to receive claim amount.
The court directed the insurer to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the wrongdoers. Following investigations, the police found that the policyholder and agent’s husband forged and fabricated the policy to get claim amount.
Both the accused were arrested on the honourable court’s order.
