Sanjeevani Award Winner - Shillong MFDs Ajitabh Goswami and Gajendra Kumar Roy of ‘We Reach We Help’

Ajitabh Goswami and Gajendra Kumar Roy have bagged the most coveted ‘Sanjeevani MFD Awards’ at Cafemutual Ideas Fest 2022 (CIF 22).

The awards were jointly launched by SBI Mutual Fund and Cafemutual to felicitate MFDs/RIAs/MFD associations who helped their clients/members during the challenging pandemic times.

Out of the many entries received, Ajitabh and Gajendra’s inspiring story caught our judges’ attention and made it to the winners’ list. Here is what makes their story unique.

The duo came together with other seven like-minded MFDs - Anjan Das, Dinesh Powdel, Nilakantha Sharma, Rajat Das, Shyamal Sen, Sudeep Mizar and Tapash Gupta to form a community to help people affected by covid-19.

Talking about the driving force behind building this community, Ajitabh and Gajendra said, “During the pandemic, we saw people especially the daily wage-earners lose their jobs and struggle for their basic amenities. Looking at their problems, we decided to contribute something for them and this gave birth to We Reach We Help.”

The community reaches out to not only clients but also others who are in need.

As its first initiative, We Reach We Help (WRWH) distributed groceries. This was followed by medicine distribution and settlement of hospital bills. Thereafter, WRWH helped not so tech-savvy people to book vaccination slots.

One initiative lead to another as it moved on to distribution of clothes, masks and sanitisers. The association also arranged travel logistics for differently-abled and aged individuals for their timely vaccinations. Besides, the team also recharged mobile phones of needy families to ensure their children do not miss out on online education.

WRWH has reached out to more than 1,000 families through its food distribution drive and has donated medicines to around 500 individuals. Besides, WRWH has also distributed more than 1,000 masks to date.

The community has also extended its warmth and kindness to stray dogs, who are looked after and fed by the team.

WRWH is a self-funded community, where the duo pool in their funds along with the contributions from other MFDs as well as MF officials.

The community presently has 30 active members and the duo has been reaching out to other like-minded people to be a part of its noble initiatives. They said, “We hope to register We Wish We Reach and continue working towards the welfare of the needy."
