    Phrases MFDs can and can’t use to promote business

    According to regulations, MFDs should avoid using terms like advisory, consultancy and management when promoting their business

    For any business, survival and growth depend on 3Rs — revenue, reach and retention. And all of these factors, directly or indirectly, rely on promotion and marketing to register good performance.

    The same is applicable in the mutual fund distribution business as well. Your name and message need to be continuously doing the rounds among prospective clients. Only then, you can establish a steady flow of new clients.

    However, promoting a MF distribution business is not as easy as in case of most other professions. MFDs have to consider AMFI guidelines and SEBI regulations when preparing the content for promotion.

    Most important among them is to remember that you cannot use terms like planning, advisory, consultancy, solutions and other such words which MFDs are prohibited from using in their names and taglines. You can refer to the whole list of prohibited words here.

    In such a scenario, the best way to promote your business is to design phrases for solutions you provide without using words like advisory, consultancy and management.

    Regulator are busy in doing such all shit... Nothing important they are doing... Stop false selling and phrases .... Small amc are paying 2.50% B30 in there funds and big AMC are not giving more than 1.50% .... Banking are selling funds by telling double in 3 months... Stop this insist of doing this shit

    SEBI should do something sensible. All this is of no use & no benefit to client. Thy are making simple things difficult. Its just like getting married & speaking only selected words with your life partner with whom you are going to spend whole life. Ridiculous !!!!

    First of all SEBI must ban banks from selling Mutual Funds. They are the biggest mis seller of insurance and Mutual Funds. The workers are detailed for the Mutual Fund selling counter and just trained how to sell by making fake promises.
    I have many clients who themselves are the bank employees are dealing in selling Mutual Funds in their branches. My first question after knowing this was why don't you yourselves invest and why are you coming to me. The answers waer - (1) Banks offer plans only from a limited AMCs and asked to sell hybrid schemes only as Bank Officials thinks that they are less riskier. (2) The services offered by a Mutual Fund distributor are of superior levels. (3) Bank officials don't know much about the tax planning with Mutual Funds.

    In my opinion, they had prevent MFD to use phrase of Planning, Advise, Wealth Management. In no where i had found the Solution should not be used
