Systematic investments in index funds and debt oriented schemes have risen considerably in the last three months. The latest AMFI data shows that new SIP accounts in index funds have risen by 17% and 14% in debt funds.
As on October 31, the number of live SIP accounts in index funds surged by 17% to 4.19 lakh from 3.59 lakh three months ago.
In case of debt oriented funds (excluding liquid and overnight funds), the number of live SIP accounts surged by 14% to 9.82 lakh compared to 8.64 lakh three months ago. SIP accounts in liquid and overnight funds increased by 10% to 2.73 lakh accounts as against 2.48 lakh on July 31.
The highest number of SIP accounts is in actively managed pure equity schemes. In this category, SIP accounts rose by 2% in the last three months to 2.87 crore in October compared to 2.81 crore July.
Overall in the last 3 months, the MF industry witnessed an increase of 3% in SIP accounts to 3.37 crore as against 3.27 crore.
