    HDFC MF, SBI MF and ICICI Pru MF are top three preferred choices for retail investors

    These three fund houses have highest retail AUM in the industry.

    HDFC Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund and ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund are the top three preferred fund houses for retail investors, shows an analysis of AUM data of the top 25 fund houses done by Cafemutual.

    These three fund houses = HDFC, SBI and ICICI Pru have highest retail AUM in the said order. With retail assets of Rs.87,700 crore, HDFC MF was the most favourite choice for  retail investors. SBI MF and ICICI followed HDFC MF with retail AUM of Rs. 73,800 crore and Rs. 67,500 crore respectively.

    Next in the list were Nippon India MF and Aditya Birla Sun Life MF with retail AUM of Rs. 64,300 crore and Rs. 59,000 crore, respectively.

    UTI MF (Rs. 54,320 crore), Axis MF (Rs. 54,310 crore), Franklin Templeton MF (Rs. 32,330 crore), DSP MF (Rs. 30,740 crore) and Mirae Asset MF (Rs. 30,006 crore) occupied the next five positions in terms of retail AUM.

    Retail AUM comprises equity, debt, balanced schemes, exchange traded fund (gold & others), and fund of funds investing overseas. It takes into account AUM through direct plan, associate distributors, non-associate distributors. Further, it also accounts for T30 and B30 locations along with contribution of other than sponsor in AUM.

    Overall, the top 25 fund house have retail assets of close to Rs.7 lakh crore. Majority of these assets i.e. 84% have been invested in equity funds.

    Retail equity assets

    With assets of Rs.60,335 crore, HDFC Mutual Fund has topped the list of fund houses in terms of retail equity AUM.
