In April, Union MF and Cafemutual started the search for India's first set of MF cricket icons. And six months and sixty matches later, we have 12 winners of the first such contest, which saw participation from over 100 MFDs across India.
Sanjay Bhan (Delhi), Dipesh Sethia (Agra) and Shashi Suman (Delhi) are winners from the north zone. Sunil Tukaram Dalvi (Mumbai), Harshvardhan Bhusari (Pune) and Anand A Kulkarni (Latur) from west zone. Sudip Dey (Kolkata), Ramesh Chandra Mandal (Jagatsinghpur) and Biswarup Roy (Kolkata) from east zone and Murali N (Namakkal), M Jaisankar (Chennai) and Ganesh V Shanbhag (Bengaluru) from south zone.
The winners will receive trophies and digital certificates.
The contest received appreciation from participants for keeping them engaged during the difficult time of covid-19.
"Exceptional competition arranged by Cafemutual and Union Mutual Fund. It was a pleasant experience to play with MFD colleagues from across the country," said MFD Sunil Tukaram Dalvi, who is a winner from the west zone.
"Thank you Union MF and Cafemutual for such a unique contest. It was a thrilling experience. It made us temporarily forget the impact of pandemic on our lives," said Goa-based MFD Siddhesh Shetye.
G Pradeepkumar, CEO, Union MF said that the aim of the contest was to keep the MFD community motivated. “Distributors have been going through a lot of challenges due to the pandemic. While we are aware of the situation, we want to lighten their mood as cricket season is here and who does not love cricket? Distributors have always been very passionate about cricket. The contest MF Cricket Icon will capture the sportsman spirit of the community and encourage them to cheer up and enjoy the country’s favourite sport,” he said.
The contest required participants to predict man of the match award ahead of each match. They were allowed to send up to 5 names. For every right prediction, they received 10 points. Extra points were awarded for predicting the final winner, highest run getter, highest wicket taker and the man of the tournament.
We thank all the participants for supporting the initiative and making the contest a grand success.
