After declining for three-straight years, new ARN registrations is on the upswing. ARN registrations in the first half of FY 2022 has already surpassed the total registrations in FY 2021. In fact, new ARN registrations during the six month period (April to September) is 60% higher than the total registrations witnessed in FY 2021.

Latest AMFI data shows that 8,957 new ARNs were registered between April and March 2021 as against 5,601 additions in the whole of FY 2021. Total registrations, including corporate employees and companies, stood at 19,730 for the April-September period. The figure is a significantly higher than the last year's total count of 16,119.

According to industry insiders, the biggest reason behind the surge in ARN registrations is the restarting of physical examinations by NISM. The examination was suspended over about 8 months in FY 2021 due to Covid.

    Over 15,000 ARN renewals

15,154 MFDs renewed their ARNs in the last six months. The highest registrations this financial year happened in September at 3,465.

In FY 2021, 20,709 individual MFDs had renewed their ARNs.

Recently AMFI extended the validity of ARNs expiring between March 15, 2020 and December 31, 2021. Even if not renewed, such ARNs will remain active till January 2022.
