2021 is ending soon. Can you give us a sneak peek into your 2021?
The rise in the stock market has made 2021 a feel-good year for investors as well as distributors. A good vacation would have been a bonus but alas, Covid spoilt the party. On the flip side, we may not have seen ultra-loose fiscal and monetary policies fueling asset prices.
What are the two key lessons that the year has taught you?
A persistent uptrend makes many believe that it will continue even in the future. Those reluctant to invest earlier start investing at a stage when the risk is high. Further, prudent asset allocation gets compromised in favour of outperforming asset classes.
On the personal side, the pandemic brought to the forefront what we take for granted – survival/staying alive. 2021 reasserted the supremacy of health above all.
What are your aspirations for the coming year? What are the new things that you would like to implement in your professional and/or personal life?
I always believe in competing with myself and therefore want Prescient to be better and bigger than what it is today.
On the personal front, I would like to meditate regularly.
What is that one thing that you feel could have been done differently last year?
I would have been glad to see equity underweight investors rebalance their portfolios at the onset of the uptrend.
What trends do you think MFDs/RIAs should watch for in 2022?
The interest of investors in PMS, AIF and other non-vanilla products would continue to rise. The lure of faster and sharper returns would tempt many mutual fund investors to create direct equity portfolios. To counter these trends, we must repeatedly convey to them ‘Mutual Funds Sahi Hai’.
