The government has appointed Ashwini Bhatia as the whole time director (WTM) of SEBI, said media reports.
Bhatia has become SEBI member for three years from the date of assuming the office.
In Sept 2018, Bhatia was appointed as the MD & CEO of SBI Mutual Fund.
Bhatia has held many senior responsibilities at SBI. He was in charge of revamping the entire credit structure and processes of SBI. He has also been associated with SBI Capital Markets Ltd., as President, CEO and Whole Time Director.
Bhatia a B.Sc. and MBA graduate started his career with State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1985. Over his tenure of 33 years with the State Bank of India, he has worked in various commercial banking verticals such as forex and treasury, retail credit & liability and SME/corporate credit.
Currently, SEBI has two whole time directors – SK Mohanty and Ananta Barua.
