New investors continue to explore mutual funds, as the industry adds more than 10 lakh investors in the last month. The MF industry has registered over 30 lakh new folios and managed average AUM of Rs. 38.56 lakh crore.

Number of folios and investors
- The aggregate folio count was 12.61 crore in Feb 2022 as against 12.31 crore in Jan 2022, an addition of 30 lakh folios over the last month
- The number of unique investors has increased by 3% from 3.17 crore in Jan 2022 to 3.27 crore in Feb 2022
T30 vs B30
- T-30 and B-30 locations account for 83% and 17%, respectively of the total industry AUM.
- Total folio count of T-30 locations and B-30 location was 7.12 crore and 5.49 crore, respectively
Retail investors’ average AUM per folio
- Average AUM per folio has declined in Feb 2022
- The combined average AUM per folio of individual investors was Rs. 1.67 lakh (T30 + B30 cities). If we add all category of investors, average AUM per folio of the MF industry was Rs. 2.98 lakh
- Average AUM per folio in T-30 and B-30 locations was Rs. 2.21 lakh and Rs. 96,000, respectively
SIPs
- The MF industry has registered 23.49 lakh additional SIPs which is less than the previous month
- Total SIP count was 5.17 crore which included 4.38 crore (85%) in growth/equity-oriented schemes, 17.74 lakh (3%) in income/debt schemes (including liquid & overnight funds) and 32.03 lakh (6%) in hybrid schemes. Solution-oriented schemes and index funds formed 4.99 lakh (1%) and 12.83 lakh (2%), respectively
- 11.04 lakh SIPs have matured/have been discontinued in Feb 22, 11% less than the previous month
Redemptions and funds mobilised
- Overall redemptions have declined from Rs. 7.53 lakh crore in Jan 22 to Rs. 7.34 lakh crore in Feb 22
- The MF industry has mobilised gross inflows to the tune of Rs. 7.66 lakh crore in Feb 22 as against Rs. 7.88 lakh crore in Jan 22
ARNs
- 4,030 MFDs have entered the mutual fund industry - 2,166 individuals, 3 overseas distributors, 133 corporates, 1,726 corporate employees and 2 IFA employees
- 4,847 MFDs have renewed their ARNs, which comprises 1,826 individuals, 227 corporates, 2,792 corporate employees and 2 IFA employees
