    UTI Mutual Fund tops tally of Rank 1 Funds

    SBI Mutual Fund occupied the second position with 6 of its funds featuring in the top cluster.

    SBI Mutual Fund occupied the second position with 6 of its funds featuring in the top cluster.

    UTI Mutual Fund has topped the chart of CRISIL Fund Rank 1 schemes with 7 of their funds in the top cluster as per the latest CRISIL Mutual Fund Rankings for the quarter ended March 2013. This was followed by SBI Mutual Fund with 6 funds. The CRISIL data shows that BNP Paribas Equity Fund, Quantum Long Term Equity Fund UTI India Lifestyle Fund and UTI Opportunity Fund have taken the top position in the large cap equity fund while IDFC Dynamic Bond Fund, SBI Dynamic Bond Fund and SBI Magnum Income Fund have occupied leading positions in long term income funds.

    CRISIL MF ranking uses a combination of NAV and portfolio attributes for evaluation. Based on various factors like risk, returns, asset concentration, liquidity, asset quality asset size and long term consistency in performance, CRISIL has given ranking by assigning them on a scale ranges between Rank 1 to Rank 5. In any peer group, the top 10 percentile of funds are ranked CRISIL Fund Rank 1 and the next 20 percentile are ranked CRISIL Fund Rank 2.

    The rankings saw 46 out of 470 funds in the top cluster followed by 93 funds in the second cluster. During the quarter under review, top ranked funds from large cap, diversified and small & mid-cap categories beat their benchmarks on the back of allocations in information technology (IT), telecom and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), says a CRISIL release.

    ICICI Prudential Flexible Income Plan, JPMorgan India Treasury Fund, Reliance Money Manager Fund and Religare Credit Opportunities Fund.

    Thematic Infrastructure Funds

    Birla Sun Life MNC Fund, SBI Emerging Businesses Fund and SBI Magnum Global Fund.
