Karnataka MFD JB Sudarshan won the prestigious Cafemutual Big League Award at Cafemutual Confluence held in Mumbai on October 13.
Sudarshan has won the SIP Champion award for opening highest number of SIP accounts during FY 2022-23 from south India. South includes Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala. Sudarshan said that he has done over 2500 new SIPs for close to 1000 clients in one year period.
Here are three key things that helped Sudarshan in achieving this feat.
Serving the underserved
Sudarshan conducts IAPs regularly in rural areas. He believes that rural people have money but they do not know where to invest their money.
Sudarshan approaches villagers through Panchayat. He conducts knowledge sessions on benefits of mutual funds and make people aware of various financial products. He talks about how people can buy a vehicle, fund their daughter’s wedding or send their children to metro cities for better education through a simple SIP. He encourages them to start SIP with a small amount of Rs.1000.
One-on-one meetings
Post his knowledge sessions, Sudarshan visits the village again to resolve queries and concerns of interested prospects through one-on-one session. In these meetings, he asks questions to understand his prospects better and encourages them to share their financial aspirations. He recommends them to start SIP in mutual funds to achieve financial goals.
Investing time with clients to get referrals
Sudarshan regularly meets his existing clients. He makes a point to meet his clients on occasions like birthdays and festivals. This way, he gets to meet friends and family members of existing clients. He also encourages these friends and family members to start SIP.
