AMFI data shows that registered investment advisors (RIAs) Rs. 3.52 lakh crore to the MF industry. They account for 14% of the total direct plan AUM of Rs. 25.37 lakh crore in June 2024.
If we look at the share of individual assets in direct plans, RIAs account for 42% of such assets. Currently, individual investors have Rs. 8.41 lakh crore.
Mumbai RIA Vivek Rege of VR Wealth Advisors believes that the share of RIAs in direct AUM will only grow from here. He said, “Many investors see value in getting associated with RIAs. The advisors understand the suitability of an investment before recommending it to an investor. They also are not restricted to a single product and do financial planning for an investor.”
Bhubaneshwar RIA Arun Sahoo of Mintbox Advisory believes that the actual investment coming through RIAs is higher than reported. He said that many investors take advice and execute transactions through online platforms. Also, many investors do not put RIA code in their MF application and hence, such numbers went unreported.
